When a person is not mentally focused on the sender’s message because of mental distractions from other matters, the receiver can lose a lot of the communication. This can definitely frustrate barriers to communication of the message.
External Noise: noise distractions that can come from external sources such as other students having personal conversations during the lecture, especially in large university lecture halls.
Technology can also be an external noise distraction (and an internal one if it distracts your thoughts) because just everyone has a cell phone. Unless the instructor has specific instructions that cell phones are not allowed in the class lecture, students can easily be distracted by other students' reading their social media and abruptly laughing out loud or by constant alerts coming through various phone chimes or vibrating sounds.
