Who are the characters in The Maze Runner?

The characters in The Maze Runner by James Dashner are Thomas, the rest of the boys in the Glade, Teresa, and the rescuers at the end of the book. Most of the novel takes place in the Glade, where WICKED has trapped the boys and Teresa to test how they respond to various situations.

Thomas is the first character introduced in the novel. He's a teenage boy who arrives in the Glade with no memory. He becomes a Runner, which means he goes out into the Maze during the day and tries to map it so that the boys have a better understanding of its paths for an eventual escape attempt. As the new boy in the Maze, Thomas is considered a greenbean or "greenie" at first. After allowing a Griever to sting him, he regains his memories and leads the group out of the Maze via the Griever Hole.

Teresa arrives the day after Thomas. She's the first girl in the Glade; her arrival also marks the first time someone has come to the Glade so quickly after another arrival. She has a note that says, "She is the last one. Ever." On her arm, it says, "WICKED is good." She and Thomas can speak to each other using only their minds. She eventually tells him that she remembers only that they—Thomas and Teresa—are the reason why the Gladers are stuck in the Glade. She escapes with Thomas and some of the Gladers.

Alby is the leader of the Gladers. He's an older boy and was part of the first group in the Glade. He's a stickler for rules and uses them to keep peace in the community. He's stung by a Griever and survives, thanks to Thomas and Minho. After the Changing, he's scared of returning to the real world. In the end, he kills himself by running at the Grievers —both to try to save his friends and to avoid having to leave the Maze.

Minho is the leader of the Runners. He decides to give Thomas a chance to become a Runner after Thomas saves Alby and helps them stay alive during the night in the Maze. He grows to trust Thomas, eventually championing Thomas's decision to use the Griever Hole to escape the Maze. He escapes with Thomas and the others.

Newt is the next person in charge after Alby. A former Runner, he decided he was better able to handle life inside the Glade if he didn't have to venture into the Maze. He's also friends with Thomas, though he argues against him becoming Keeper of the Runners. His argument is that Thomas is too new for the responsibility.

Chuck is the boy who arrived before Thomas. He's young and chubby and idolizes Thomas, who promises to save him and take him home. He escapes with Thomas and the others but is killed by Gally.

Gally had already been stung and undergone the Changing before Thomas arrives. He doesn't trust Thomas and says that he's evil. At the end of the book, he tries to kill Thomas but kills Chuck instead.

Ava Paige is known as The Chancellor. Her memo to her associates is the epilogue of the book. It confirms that the Gladers were test subjects and that they will be exposed to more trials in the future.

The people who save the remaining Gladers and take them to a bunker at the end of the novel are never named. They're armed, they kill a woman who says she's from WICKED, and they evacuate the remaining Gladers. They explain the sun flares to the group and the sickness that stemmed from it. They also confirm that the people in the Glade were chosen for a test.
